Bruce Studios is a digital membership that gives you access to the best training with a single membership in your phone – freedom to work out wherever you want.
IM WITH BRUCE AB, (org. no. 559037-5597), and its subsidiaries Bruce Norway AS (org. no. 924467495) and Bruce Denmark ApS (CVR no 41888695) henceforth referred to as (Bruce), runs www.brucestudios.com/en (the Website) and related apps for iOS and Android (the App).
By registering as a User on the Website or in the App, you agree to these Terms and Conditions (the Terms) at the same time. Read the Terms properly as they regulate the relationship between you and Bruce.
A Member refers to a paying user of the App. A User refers to Members, as well as users of the Website and the App that have not yet paid for a membership. Each User has an Account that is used to log in to the App and on the Website.
About Bruce Studios
Bruce offers a service (the Service) where Members through the App can book group training classes and check in for solo training at gyms, studios and training facilities that Bruce collaborates with (Bruce partners).
Only people over the age of 18 can buy a membership at Bruce.
When visiting Bruce partners, the Member must check in for classes or solo training using the App and the partner's QR code. Once the code has been scanned the Member's entry ticket will appear in the App, which should then be presented to the staff.
The Bruce membership is personal and the Member is not entitled to transfer rights or obligations under the Terms to a third party. Nor is the Member allowed to let in a third party into a Bruce Partner’s facilities. The penalty for doing so amounts to a cost of SEK 1000. In repetitive events the Member will be banned from the Service.
Prohibited Activities: The use of the API provided by Bruce is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization. Any unauthorized use of the API is a violation of these terms and conditions and may result in legal action.
Consent Statement
Bruce will send the User direct marketing related to our products and services. The direct marketing from Bruce is partly based on profiling. This means that Bruce will make predictions about the Members personal preferences based on how often the Member trains, what type of workouts they do and which Bruce partners they attend. Based on these predictions, Bruce will tailor the direct marketing to the Member. For more information on how we process the Users personal data, please visit: Privacy Policy.
The Member is free to choose whether to consent to or decline the profiling for the purpose of providing the Member with direct marketing. Please notice that the Member may withdraw their consent at any time, but that the withdrawal will not affect the legality of Bruce’s processing conducted prior to such withdrawal.
Membership fee and payments
Downloading the app is free. To book a class or work out at Bruce partners, the User must first become a Member. Payments are made by card or by direct debit and are provided by Stripe and Trustly.
The membership has to be purchased in the country where the member uses the membership most. The Member can use their Bruce membership in other cities, including cities in other countries where Bruce provides their services. These workouts include visits to studios within the member’s own membership level.
Bruce offers different membership levels in different countries: In Sweden; Base, Black and Epic. In Norway; Base and Black. In Denmark; Black.
All memberships are flex memberships (rolling memberships) and continue until the Member chooses to cancel it. The monthly cost is deducted during the night to the last day of the current payment or pause period. For advance payments, no refunds are issued. The membership can be terminated only after the prepaid period has ended.
The Member has to ensure that a payment method is working throughout the entire subscription. The payment period starts from the regular date even if the payment does not go through on the correct date. If the Member is unable to pay at the correct date, the Member must put the membership on hold in advance to avoid paying for days when the Member cannot use the membership. If a payment fails an invoice might be sent to the Member. If the payment is not made, the case may be sent to debt collection.
With Credits, the Member can book sessions and train with Bruce partners. Credits are valid for one year from the date the Member purchased them. Passes booked with expired credits are not refunded upon cancellation. The price per training session matches the Partner's own pricing. There are some studios that do not currently accept Bruce credits as payment. A list of these Partners can be found in the Bruce FAQ.
Supply
Each Bruce partner chooses the classes they want to make available to Bruce. Classes are not constant and may vary over time and without notice. Bruce can not guarantee access to a specific studio or certain classes. The Member is not entitled to cancel the Membership prematurely because the range of classes has changed or a studio has disappeared.
Identification
In order to use the Service, the Member needs to enter its full name and a profile picture that clearly shows the Member's face from the front. The account is personal and may not be shared. If the Member does not have a full name and profile picture, the membership may be blocked without notice. No refund is made in these cases.
In order to maintain the highest level of security, Bruce will verify all Members with a digital ID. All Members need to be verified with a digital signature in order to continue using the service Bruce provides. Once the verification with a digital ID is done, the account does not need to be verified again. If the Member does not have a bank ID, the Member must contact Bruce either via the in-app chat or via email [email protected] and submit a picture of their passport to identify themselves. The photo of the passport is deleted immediately after verification.
The Member’s social security number, name and address are stored on the Bruce servers according to GDPR protocol. For more information on how we process personal data, please visit: Privacy Policy.
In order to check in at Bruce partners, the App may ask for the Member's location. The information is used to determine if the Member is at the correct location, and may be logged for troubleshooting purposes.
Pause membership
The Member can pause the membership whenever the Member wants. Each calendar year, the Member has two (2) pause periods and a total of 60 pause days. The pause days can be distributed as the Member wishes between the two pause periods. Deductions for paused days that the Member paid for are made on the next monthly payment. The membership will automatically start when the pause period ends. Unused pause days cannot be saved for the next calendar year.
The Member does not get new pause days if they cancel the membership and restart it again within the same calendar year. Any class bookings that coincide with the pause period are automatically canceled (does not apply to paid classes).
In special circumstances such as injury or illness, pausing is allowed for up to 365 days when providing a medical certificate. In connection to pregnancy, a pause of up to six (6) months is allowed, longer pauses require a medical certificate.
Pausing of the membership always has to be done in advance, and can not be done after canceling a membership.
Cancel membership
If the Member wants to cancel their membership, 1 month's period of notice applies to all memberships. If it is the first time ever you try Bruce there is no cancellation time. The notice period can not be taken away by a pause. This means that the Member will be charged for the next payment period following their current payment period at the time of canceling. Example: If the Member’s payment date is the 15th of each month and they cancel their membership no later than the 14th of April, their last payment period will be April 15th - May 14th. If the Member cancels their membership on April 15th, the last payment period will be May 15th - June 14th.
The Member can not pause the membership after a cancellation is made.
No notice period applies if the Member cancels their membership during the first month as a brand new member.
Right of withdrawal
According to Swedish, Norwegian and Danish law, the Member has a right of withdrawal for 14 days when purchasing goods and services remotely. To exercise the right of withdrawal, the Member must not have used the membership. The right of withdrawal applies from the day of purchase or from the day of signing up for Trial. Special rules for the right of withdrawal apply to the Trial. See Trial section below.
If the Member regrets the purchase, the Member must contact Bruce by emailing [email protected] within the specified time.
If the Member has purchased the membership through a third party, special conditions apply. Then the Member must contact the third party.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to the purchase of individual passes at a specific time.
Campaign terms
By using a campaign code, the Member accept the following terms:
The very first time the Member purchases a Bruce membership, the Member can terminate the membership without a notice period within the first 30 days. Because of this, the membership can last a minimum of 1 or 3 months, regardless of the campaign's duration. After the first month, a notice period of 1 month always applies.
Campaigns are only for new members.* Campaigns never apply to individuals with an active or paused membership, or during a trial period. The right to use a campaign code is determined by Bruce at its discretion, and Bruce may limit this right to prevent abuse of campaigns.
No discount codes can be combined with other discounts or offers.
If the Member pauses the membership during the campaign period, the Member risks losing all or part of the discount for the remaining campaign period.
A campaign code must be activated within the campaign's framework, but no later than 25 days after the Member has added it to its user.
The discount always applies to current regular prices during the campaign period, and all discounts are time-limited.
Bruce's general terms and conditions also apply to anyone using a promotion.
*Exceptions can apply if you have received a personal offer via email or SMS.
Trial
Trial is available periodically throughout the year and gives new customers of Bruce the opportunity to try Bruce for free during fourteen days, at selected studios that are part of the Black membership. During the trial period, the Member can train maximum one (1) time per studio or chain. The trial period only applies to the Black membership.
The trial period cannot be paused or extended, but the Member can end the trial period at any time. At the end of the trial period, the Member can no longer practice for free at our studios.
During the trial period, the same rules for no-shows, late cancellations and late check-ins apply as for regular members. Importantly, the Member is unable to cancel their trial while having a block. (please see the Cancellation of classes section below for more information).
Once the trial period has expired, the membership will convert to a Black membership unless the Member has actively chosen to terminate the membership before then. The day after the end of the trial period, the Member must make the first monthly payment for the Black membership. Upon payment, the Member will receive full access to all features included in the Black membership. For information on the price of the Black membership, please see our price list here:Memberships
In the cities that offer more membership levels than Black, the Member is given the opportunity to choose which membership they wish to have before the trial period ends. In connection with the Member starting a membership, the trial period ends at the same time.
If a Member tries to start the trial period one more time, a regular Black membership is started which cannot be refunded.
Special rules for the right of withdrawal apply to the Trial. The withdrawal period starts from the first day of the trial period and an additional withdrawal period will not be offered during the continued membership. For more information on how the Member exercises their right of withdrawal, please see the section Right of Withdrawal above.
Invite friends for a free class
A Member can distribute invites for a free class at your membership level. Each code is unique and can only be used 1 time by the person who is not yet a member. One code gives the Members friend a free workout within the Members membership level. The training can be an instructor-led session or self-training at, for example, a gym. The free class can be used no later than 30 days after the code has been registered. Anyone who is not yet a member can be invited to a free class once every 3 months.
If the friend the Member invites gets a Bruce membership, the Members invites will be filled up to 3 new ones.
Limitations
There is a general limit of 8 times per month that the Member can visit a specific studio or chain. For some studios, exceptions apply with either 1, 4 or 6 visits per month depending on the studio. At STC gyms, there are no visitation limits for Bruce Members.
Once the Member has reached their visit limit for a studio any given month, the Member can choose to purchase additional visits. There is no limit on the number of purchased visits the Member can buy, except for a minority of Studios where purchasing additional visits is not possible once the Member reaches the monthly visit limit.
The visit limit per studio includes both solo training and class bookings. The visit limit is reset for all studios the 1st of each calendar month.
The Member can have a maximum number of simultaneous bookings at the same time depending on membership type.
The number of simultaneous bookings: In Sweden; Base has 3, Black has 4 and Epic has 5 In Norway; Base has 3 and Black has 5 In Denmark; Black has 5
The User can only be logged in to one device at a time. The User may log in 5 times over a period of 365 days. Any further login attempts will be blocked.
Cancellation of classes
Cancellations can generally be made up to 3, 6 or 12 hours before a class starts without action, or else it will count as a late cancellation. Exceptions are stated in the class description. If the Member makes a late cancellation, the Member gets 1 strike. Late cancellations can be made up until 10 minutes prior to a class starts.
Check-ins can generally be made up until 5 minutes prior to a class starts before they are counted as a late check-in. Exceptions are stated in the class description. Some venues lock the door when the check-in time is over. If the Member arrives late at such a venue the Member cannot check in and will get a miss.1 strike is given for 3 late check-ins made within 30 days. For a check-in to be valid, the Member is required to participate in the class. A check-in without participation is counted as a no-show.
If the Member doesn't attend a booked class, a no-show, the Member will immediately get 3 strikes.
If the Member gets 3 strikes, the Member will be blocked from booking new classes for 14 days. While blocked, the Member can still attend already booked classes and work out at gyms and other solo training. Importantly, the Member is unable to cancel their membership or trial while having a block. The Member can choose to wait for the block to expire or get unblocked instantly for a fee. The Member automatically gets rid of 1 strike every 30 days, calculated from the first strike.
If any late check-ins, late cancellations or no-shows are made when blocked, the block will be extended by:
- 1 day for late check-in
- 3 days for late cancellation
- 7 days for no-show
The number of days the Member is blocked affects the price of unblocking. When the block has been extended with 7 days, the price increases by the corresponding amount it costs to unblock.
It is not possible to pause the membership when blocked. If a block period spans an already scheduled pause, the remaining days of the block will continue after the pause.
Studios might have their own cancellation policy, in addition to Bruce’s own rules. This means that you can be blocked from booking classes for a certain amount of days in their own system. Studios that this apply to have this information stated in their studio description.
When using Credits the following applies, instead of the strikes above:
Late cancellations: If the Member makes a late cancellation, 5 credits will be deducted, while the rest of the credits paid for the class will be refunded.
Missed class: If the Member misses a class, no credits will be refunded.
